Children of Vietnam is a non-profit group based in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam. We are currently working with this group to help local children in this region. Our support of Children of Vietnam will include aid for children with disabilities.
We returned from Vietnam! We had a great visit with representatives from Children of Vietnam, and learned so much about the needs of children in the area from Tuan Vo, the Country Director. We were able to meet with staff and some of the families served by Children of Vietnam. Our gracious hosts even took us to some of the villages in the suburbs of Danang to meet with families in their own homes.
We learned much about the challenges many children, and their families face and the difficulties they encounter trying to access medical care, especially when their children have special needs. Sadly, it appears that the latent aftereffects of the use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War has had a profound effect on children and grandchildren who have been exposed to Agent Orange, and the genetic disturbances caused to offspring.
Children of Vietnam has made a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of children, families, and communities around the Danang area, and we were able to see this with our own eyes. We are proud to support Children of Vietnam with the funds we raised in the U.S. due to the generous contributions of many people. Thanks to those who cared, donated, and participated in the April 2024 concert to raise awareness of these issues.
We will post more details later of the way funds we raised are being put to use.
